Honeywell Vent Sanitizing: The Fort Lauderdale Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Honeywell-compatible vent sanitizing components across Fort Lauderdale, with most replacements priced between $290 and $520 installed for a typical single-system home. That price includes the part, labor, and a written guarantee covering the work for a full year. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a musty smell that returns within days of cleaning, or a UV sanitizer lamp that’s gone dark. In Fort Lauderdale’s humidity, a failed sanitizing component does not just sit idle. It lets biological growth creep back into ductwork you already paid to have cleaned.
Which Honeywell Models This Applies To
Honeywell has produced vent and coil sanitizing hardware under several lines over the years, and the part that fits one series rarely fits another. The most common units we see in Fort Lauderdale homes are the Honeywell UV Air Purifier series (the UV100A and UV240A lamp-and-ballast configurations), the Surface Treatment System models sold for evaporator coil disinfection, and older inline UV fixtures mounted in the supply plenum. If you can read the label on the ballast or the etched marking on the lamp base, we can match it in minutes. If the label has faded, a photo of the lamp’s end-pin configuration and overall length does the job.
One compatibility gotcha we run into regularly: the UV100A uses a 14-inch lamp, while the UV240A uses the same lamp but a dual-lamp ballast with different wiring. A homeowner can buy the right lamp and still have a dead system because the ballast failed, not the lamp. That is the single most common misdiagnosis we correct. For replacement parts, we prefer genuine Honeywell when the warranty window still matters to you, and we carry quality aftermarket equivalents for out-of-warranty units where the specs match exactly. We do not substitute a lamp with different wavelength output, because UV-C sanitizing only works within a narrow band.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Honeywell Vent Sanitizing Is Failing
- The UV lamp will not fire. The ballast has failed or the lamp has burned past its usable life. Both are common after 12 to 18 months of continuous run time in Fort Lauderdale’s heat, where units cycle harder than in cooler climates.
- Musty odor returns within weeks of a duct cleaning. The sanitizing component is no longer controlling biological growth on the coil or in the plenum. In South Florida, that growth comes back fast once the UV output drops.
- A humming sound from the unit but no visible light. The ballast is trying to fire a dead lamp. Do not leave it running this way. It wastes power and shortens the life of the new lamp you will eventually install.
- Visible discoloration on the lamp glass. A lamp near the end of its life often shows darkened ends or a milky film. UV-C output has already dropped well below effective levels by the time you can see this.
- The sight glass shows no blue glow. On Honeywell units with a viewing window, no glow means no sanitizing is happening, regardless of whether the fan is running. A lamp that flickers on and off points to a failing ballast.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fort Lauderdale, expect a Honeywell vent sanitizing replacement to run between $290 and $520 installed for most residential setups. The range comes down to three things: whether you need just a lamp or a lamp-and-ballast pair, which Honeywell series you have, and whether your unit needs a mounting adapter for an older plenum. The price we quote is written down before any work starts, and it does not move at the door. That is just how we operate under The Garrison Standard.
Every replacement includes removal of the old component, installation and wiring of the new one, a function test to confirm proper UV-C output, and a full year of coverage through the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the part or our work fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. You do not pay for the second visit. That is not a negotiation point. It is written on the paperwork you sign before we begin.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things you can safely check on your own. First, confirm the unit is getting power at the outlet or junction box. Second, look at the sight glass to see if the lamp is producing any light at all. That information helps us determine the failure before we arrive. What you should not do is open the unit and handle the lamp yourself. UV-C lamps contain mercury vapor, and a cracked lamp releases mercury into your air handler. The lamp also operates at high voltage, and a Honeywell fixture wires directly into your HVAC electrical circuit. A trained technician knows how to discharge the ballast and handle the lamp without breaking it or getting a shock. This is not the component to learn on.

FAQs
A Honeywell UV-C lamp typically delivers effective sanitizing output for about 9,000 to 12,000 hours of run time, which works out to roughly 12 to 18 months in a Fort Lauderdale system running year-round. After that, the lamp still glows but the wavelength output drops below the level needed to control biological growth. We recommend replacing lamps on a schedule based on your system’s actual run time, not waiting for visible failure. Call (754) 354-3644 and we can check your unit’s lamp age before you pay for a replacement you may not need yet.
Lamps cannot be repaired, only replaced. Ballasts can sometimes be rebuilt by an electronics specialist, but in most Fort Lauderdale homes the cost of a rebuild approaches the cost of a new ballast, and the rebuilt unit carries no warranty you can enforce. We replace failed ballasts with new units because we can stand behind the part and the work for a full year under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. A rebuilt ballast does not give us that confidence, and we will not sell you something we cannot guarantee in writing.
Most Honeywell vent sanitizing replacements take between 45 minutes and 2 hours on site, depending on access to your air handler and whether we are replacing a single lamp or a lamp-and-ballast assembly. We carry common Honeywell lamps and ballasts on our trucks, so in most cases the job is done in one visit. If your system needs a less common part, we get it ordered and schedule the install once it arrives, with the price still locked from the first visit.
We stock the most common Honeywell UV lamps and ballasts on our service vehicles, including replacements for the UV100A and UV240A series. We also carry compatible aftermarket lamps that match the OEM wavelength and pin configuration for out-of-warranty units. Beyond Honeywell, we keep parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier sanitizing systems on hand as well, because Fort Lauderdale homes run a mix of equipment depending on who installed the original system. If you give us the model number before the visit, we can confirm the part is on the truck before we arrive.
